NEWS UPDATE 2010! The Croatian Chamber of Economy, Trade Department is making good progress to regulate real estate agencies. Very good advice to anybody looking to invest in property in Croatia is to insist on asking for the agent's or agency's membership/identification card (example shown). The card proves that the holder is registered with the Chamber of Economy and is holder of all qualifications required by law to function as a professional and responsible agent.
NEWS UPDATE! 2009 sees a change in Croatian law for residents of EC countries wanting to purchase in Croatia. It is no longer required that investors obtain 'permission to purchase' when purchasing as a private individual. This change means that ownership of property is now almost immediate instead of the lengthy wait for permission to be granted. This is indeed good news for residents of EC countries.
