Island Brac

Brac Island is the 3rd largest of the Adriatic islands and the largest in Central Dalmatia.  It is a short ferry or catamaran crossing from Split.  The island is a popular tourist destination for both foreign and domestic travellers.  With its climate of long, hot summers and mild winters, beautiful beaches and typical Croatian culture it offers a good variety of activities for all tourists.

The island’s famous Brac stone has been used in such buildings as the White House in Washington DC, Berlin’s Reichstag and the stunning Diocletian’s palace, Split.

Brac Island is the home of the famous Zlatni Rat beach, featured in all Croatian tourist brochures.  The numerous towns and villages on the island range from sleepy hamlets to thriving tourist towns, each with its own unique allure.

Brac is one of the only islands to boast its own international airport, although at present international charter flights are limited.  For owners of private aircraft all facilities are available.

Ferry and catamaran crossings run daily throughout the year between Split, Supetar and Bol and from Makarska on the mainland to Sumartin.  In addition, there is a daily catamaran crossing from Bol to Hvar Island.
